If you have users that you do not want to have access to the root directory of your hosting web space, it is most recommended that you create a designated FTP username and a separate directory for them. Kindly follow the instructions below.

New FTP username

Step 1: Login to DirectAdmin.

Step 2: Step 2: Click on FTP Management under the Your Account panel.

Step 3: Click on Create FTP account to create a new username.

Step 4: Enter your desired FTP username and password. For password, you can choose to click on the random button for the system to generate a unique and secure password. An example is shown in the image below.

Step 5: Select your desired settings by choosing the checkbox. The options available is as follow:

  • - Domain - FTP account with the root directory in the domains home delivery (one up from the public_html)
  • - FTP - FTP account with the root directory in the domains public_ftp_directory
  • - User - FTP account with the root directory as the users name in the public_html directory
  • - Custom - FTP account with the root directory as per your own customization

Step 6: Click on the Create button once completed.
